Senior Stipend Program for Leb Rec Department Trips into Community
Seniors with Limited Resources Need Not Be Excluded from Community Trips
Senior residents of Lebanon and West Lebanon, NH are invited to participate in a program managed by the Lebanon Recreation Department called “Savvy Senior Trips”. The trips are coordinated and managed by a Senior Programs Coordinator with the Lebanon Recreation Department. About eight trips are provided to various locations in the state from Spring through Fall that include historical locations, restaurants, shows, natural resources/ecology settings and other points of interest. Residents may be required to pay a nominal entrance fee to attend an event transportation or to pay for food or snacks if they go to a restaurant or shop as part of the trip. Fees and costs associated with the trips and as negotiated by the Leb Rec staff are as low as they can be. Occasionally though, a Senior resident would like to participate in a trip but is prevented from doing so because of limited income or resources. The Friends of Lebanon Recreation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit who supports Leb Rec has established a “Senior Stipend” program to be coordinated by the Leb Rec Senior Programs Coordinator. The program allows some Seniors, with limited resources, to be able to participate in the Savvy Seniors trips into the community.
